The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak from the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three scores as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season

Quarterback Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts

The win extends the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats

The visitors had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields running in a short rushing score to finish the New York's opening drive

But the home team fought back in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"That was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be great."

Justin Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the home side wrapped up the victory
